Nice post-apocalyptic background
It's Hamerschlag Hall in the early 1900s
Hi, I wanted to ask about Campus Access from tomorrow for machines/server reboots and maintenance. Have provisions been made for this ?
What would be faculty candidate talks? (personally, it's important for me)
Correct, all interviews will be via Zoom, including the candidate talk/seminar.
For some of us, this is an opportunity to focus on research, but for others, this is a particularly challenging time (people with small children, people who get sick, etc). Beyond talking to our advisors, are there other steps that we should take if we are having trouble working?
Thank you :)
Will there be CPT instruction posted online? Right now it seems there’s only CPT instruction for MS on canvas
I have some documents (textbooks, lab notebooks) still on campus which I had planned to pick up at some point (I'm at home now). Is that something possible to do in the next 30 days?
Do you expect there to be any payroll interruptions during this time period?
Do we have to pick up stuff before 5pm today? Or can we go in bit later tonight?
If someone can grab materials/belongings today, and they would then need to be shipped to someone else, reimbursement may be an option--is that correct?
I doubt you have an answer to this, but do you think the campus will be closed for the remainder of spring semester?
Just to confirm- there will be no closures in University Health Services during the campus closure, right?
Will USPS at campus be open ?
I believe Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD) is moving University Health Services (UHS) toward a telephone triage and tele-health system. I don’t know if that has started yet, but it looks like they’re moving in that direction.
My ID also gave me access into Porter and Hamerschlag today.
I was able to enter at C-level with my student ID this morning.
I got in on C-level at 3:00pm today.
Since you asked if there is something we are struggling with right now, I wanted to share this with you. Although this might not be related to everyone, its a big concern for some students, especially international students. For some of us who are close to graduation, this situation creates a lot of uncertainties. USCIS offices are now closed (till at least April 1st). I’ve heard from a few students that some companies have also canceled job interviews. I’m not sure if we can get any definitive answer about this, but just wanted to share this with you as one of the things some of us are concerned about.
Sorry for the long text :)
This says that any USCIS activities not involving in person contact is still continuing
So CMU announced the first confirmed case of the COVID-19. Could we know more information about it? What general location is the student resident in? And how could we know have we contacted with them or not?
The message said that people in contact with them were outreached to also be tested
Nathan mentioned a process for people doing industry internships. How would that process interact with possible internship program cancellations?
My concern is that I would be forfeiting my stipend for the summer, and wonder if that is reversible?
Following up this particular question, if the internship is cancelled after the application of the CPT, does the CPT counted towards as used?
I’d reach out to OIE

I have a question completely unrelated to ECE - Does anyone know if the university will subsidize the tuition at Cyert while it is closed?
Are the Qual paper submissions fo PhD students giving the Quals tonight, regardless of when we decide to take it?
^I meant are the qual paper submissions due tonight?
